Information about the participants (who we are and what we do)
(not about every single person), our special features, our strong points:
Our group doesn’t exist for a long time. We, 3 girls and 3 boys, are in classrooms next door but we didn’t know each other well. We met in this group and now we know a lot more about us then before. Some of us are good with the PC, some are good in languages, we are all very good in sports, we like to experiment and we like to learn about new things. We are always very cheerful and are looking forward to meet you all at the Camp for three or four days.
Short description of the location, geographical position:
Kleinmachnow is the town in Brandenburg and south of Berlin where our school found its place. We belong to the district Potsdam-Mittelmark. The neighbour towns are Teltow, Stahnsdorf and Berlin. Accept of our comprehensive school we have primary schools, a Waldorf school, and a grammar school. Kleinmachnow is a little town with wood and the Machnower lake. Kleinmachnow and Teltow are separated by the Teltow channel. We have a lot of bikers, joggers, skippers and some walkers. It’s always good to come to Kleinmachnow, especially to visit the Hakeburg that now is a hotel. We also have a place where you can watch movies and theatre plays and listen to orchestras.
Our river – brief description
The Teltow channel has a length of 37.83 kilometers, and is situated in Berlin, the south of Berlin and the surrounding area. It is the connection between the Spree-Oder waterway and the Potsdamer Havel river. As a federal waterway the channel goes through the federal states Berlin and Brandenburg and sometimes it is even the district border. It starts in Potsdam Kleinglienicke and ends between Köpenick and Grünau at the river Dahme. The Teltow channel was built by Ernst von Stubenrauch after an inititiative of the district Teltow. On 22 December 1900 the first cut with a spade was made in Babelsberg. The channel was adepted by king Wilhelm the Second in 1906. He was also the first to drive with his boat on the new channel. The 100th birthday of the Teltow channel was celebrated with a big party at the historic places.
Our expectations for the outcome of the project:
We hope for a lot of information that we can use in school. The knowledge we take back into our all-day school life should help us to finish the school with better results.
Our suggestions/campaign proposals:
We are not long enough part of the project to make any offers. But we are very happy and really would like to do something for the project.
